Canada's worst McDonald's named as Montreal takes four of the bottom 10 on Google reviews
The worst-rated McDonald's in Canada is on Rue Saint-Denis in Montreal, where the restaurant averages just 2.06 stars from 983 Google reviews, and Montreal has four of the 10 worst in the country.

Key findings
At the other end, the McDonald's on St Peter Avenue in Bathurst, New Brunswick, is the best-rated in Canada with an average of 4.09 stars from 1,235 reviews, ahead of the restaurant on Bloor Street West in Toronto (4.04) and one on Boulevard Saint-Paul in Chicoutimi, Quebec (4.03).
The average McDonald's in the ranking scores 3.40. Montreal's restaurants on Ontario Street East (2.31), Avenue Papineau (2.57) and Rue Masson (2.57) are second, fifth and sixth from the bottom, and a restaurant in Sherbrooke is third at 2.41. King George Boulevard in Surrey, British Columbia, is fourth-worst at 2.47. Maple in Vaughan, Ontario, Warman in Saskatchewan, Rocky View County north of Calgary and Gatineau, Quebec, complete the list.
Recent reviews of the lowest-rated restaurants describe long waits and dirty tables and washrooms. One customer of the Rue Saint-Denis restaurant wrote that it "took 15 minutes to get two apple pies," while a reviewer of the Ontario Street East restaurant said: "This might be the worst mcdonald's of montreal." In Gatineau, another wrote: "It literally took 20 mins to get 2 cheeseburgers and 2 drinks. With a pre order."
Quebec is home to both ends of the ranking. As well as six of the 10 worst, the province has seven of the 10 best, all in and around Quebec City and the Saguenay region, including restaurants in Chicoutimi, Lévis, La Baie and Sainte-Marie. A McDonald's on Toronto Street South in Uxbridge, Ontario, is seventh best, and a reviewer of the Bathurst restaurant called it "one of the best McDonald's in the Country."
Alberta has the lowest-rated McDonald's of any province, with its 168 restaurants averaging 3.29, followed by British Columbia (3.33) and Saskatchewan (3.33). Newfoundland and Labrador's restaurants are the best-rated at 3.60, ahead of New Brunswick (3.51) and Ontario (3.46).

Method
How we did it
We used the DataForSEO Business Listings database to pull the Google Maps listings for McDonald's restaurants across Canada with at least 50 reviews on October 5, 2026, 1,519 listings in all.
We kept the listings whose Google name starts with McDonald's and that Google files as a fast food or other restaurant. Corporate offices, service centres, counters inside other businesses, restaurants marked as permanently or temporarily closed and duplicate listings at the same address were left out. That left the 1,165 open restaurants with at least 500 Google reviews each, 2,123,822 reviews in all.
Each restaurant was ranked by its exact average rating, worked out from its count of one, two, three, four and five-star reviews rather than the rounded score Google displays, so restaurants that show the same rating on Google are still put in order. Where two restaurants have exactly the same average, the one with the larger share of one-star reviews ranks lower.
Each province's average gives every one of its restaurants equal weight (the mean of the restaurant averages) and is shown for the nine provinces with at least 10 restaurants in the ranking. Prince Edward Island has four ranked restaurants and Yukon one, so they are left out of the province ranking, but Prince Edward Island's best and worst rated restaurants are listed below. No restaurants in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut met the 500 review threshold.
