Key findings
At the other end, Woolworths Fishermans Bend in Port Melbourne is the best-rated Woolworths in the country at 4.48 stars from 608 reviews, ahead of Woolworths Smith Collective in Southport on the Gold Coast (4.47) and the store at Perth Airport (4.46).
Sydney has seven of the 10 worst-rated stores. Eastwood is second from the bottom at 3.48, followed by Balmain (3.49), Coogee (3.56) and Padstow (3.57), with Cronulla, Moorebank and Kings Cross also in the bottom 10. Two Canberra stores, Kambah (3.58) and Dickson (3.60), complete the list.
Reviews of the lowest-rated stores keep coming back to cramped aisles, gaps on the shelves and a shortage of staffed checkouts. One Fortitude Valley shopper said the store was "constantly out of stock", a Balmain reviewer wrote that the "Store is so disorganised, shelves are a mess", and one Coogee customer summed it up as: "Every day I leave here confused & vengeful".
Victoria has five of the 10 best-rated Woolworths, with Keysborough South fifth, Kilmore sixth, Hawthorn East seventh and Warralily in Armstrong Creek ninth. Three regional New South Wales stores also make the top 10, in Lennox Head (4.45), Cameron Park (4.42) and Shell Cove (4.40), where one shopper called it "Woolies with a view".
Across all 1,044 stores, Woolworths averages 4.07, just ahead of the 830 Coles supermarkets in the same ranking on 4.04, while Aldi's 545 stores average 4.25.
South Australia has the best-rated Woolworths of any state or territory, averaging 4.11, ahead of Western Australia (4.10) and Victoria (4.08). The ACT's 18 stores are the lowest-rated at 3.87, followed by the Northern Territory (4.00) and Tasmania (4.00).

How we did it
We used the DataForSEO Business Listings database to pull the Google Maps listings for Woolworths, Coles and Aldi supermarkets across Australia that Google files as a supermarket or grocery store and that had at least 50 reviews on 5 October 2026, including 1,120 Woolworths listings.
Separate listings for liquor, petrol, online, express and distribution sites, cafes and pharmacies, listings marked as permanently or temporarily closed and duplicate listings at the same address were left out. That left the 1,044 open Woolworths supermarkets with at least 200 Google reviews each, 843,976 reviews in all. The same rules gave 830 Coles and 545 Aldi supermarkets for comparison.
Each store was ranked by its exact average rating, worked out from its count of one, two, three, four and five-star reviews rather than the rounded score Google displays, so stores that show the same rating on Google are still put in order. Where two stores have exactly the same average, the one with the larger share of one-star reviews ranks lower.
Each state and territory's average gives every one of its stores equal weight (the mean of the store averages). All eight states and territories have at least 11 Woolworths in the ranking.
